<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment capable of downloading a control program when abnormality is present in the control program and when abnormality is also present in a communication program. <P>SOLUTION: When checking the print control program stored in a flash ROM and when the abnormality is present (S30, S40), the USB communication program stored in the flash ROM used for communication for the download is checked (S50). When the abnormality is also present in the USB communication program, a UART communication program stored in a mask ROM is executed, and the print control program, the USB communication program and a rewriting program are downloaded from a maintenance computer by communication through a UART interface (S90, S100).
