PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microlens array capable of using the wide area of a microlens array surface as an effective part. SOLUTION: The entire surface of the inside of a square unit region 11 is a lens part 12 (effective region). A figure 1 (a) is a plan showing the part of four unit regions. A figure 1 (b) is an A-A cross section in the figure 1 (a), and a projecting part 13 (recessed part, when it is a convex lens) is formed at a point where the four unit areas 11 are overlapped. The edge part of the projecting part 13 becomes a flat part in the process of manufacturing and will not act as an effective lens, however, its size is so minute that it is included in a circle whose diameter is 2μm. Considering that one side of one unit area is nearly 10μm, the area ratio thereof is made very small, and the effective area of the microlens array can be made large. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
