PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a determination method capable of determining the presence of an anti-HIV antibody in a sample with accuracy even if an operation of cleaning is omitted, and a determination kit to be used for the determination method. SOLUTION: A liquid specimen containing a sample obtained from a living body is supplied into a well 101 carrying an HIV antigen 102 on its inner surface, and a reagent containing colored particles 1 carrying an anti-IgG antibody 104 bound to an anti-HIV antibody is fed into the well 101. When the colored particles 1 are adsorbed and dispersed on the inner surface of the well, the sample is positive. When the colored particles 1 are precipitated and agglutinated in the well 101, the sample is negative. Prior to supplying the liquid specimen into the well 101, an antagonist containing a protein 106 having a higher affinity, than for the HIV antigen 102, for an inhibitor 105 that is contained in the sample and inhibits the precipitation of the colored particles 1 by binding to the HIV antigen 102 and anti-IgG antibody 104 is added to the liquid specimen.
