PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for detecting a detection target contained in a specimen with high sensitivity by a specific reaction by suppressing the false positive due to non-specific reaction and simultaneously enhancing detection sensitivity in assay such as simple assay or the like performed on the medical spot. SOLUTION: The assaying medium keeps a concentration of alginin of 0.02-1.5 M and pH of 7.0-9.5 and contains substantially no buffer other than alginin or contains a reaction product of an alginin inorganic acid salt and an alkali metal hydroxide and a concentration of alginin of 0.02-1.5 M and pH of 7.0-9.5.
