PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable use of a band, except a using band of an exiting optical amplifier for an optical transmission, to enlarge an amplifying band by using an exiting optical amplifying medium. SOLUTION: An excitation means for exciting to generate at least one gain peak and a gain equalizer for equalizing a peak of a gain of the optical amplifying medium are provided in the optical amplifying medium for amplifying a light, by inductively emitting the light through excitation. Thus, a flat gain is obtained in a wavelength band except the peak value of the gain. In order to increase the conversion efficiency of amplifying, a means for distributively or dispersively equalizing the gain is proved in the longitudinal direction of the medium, thereby improving the conversion efficiency of the optical amplification. |
