A catalyst system comprises at least one catalyst constituent containing at least one photochromic group. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) preparation of olefin polymers by polymerization or copolymerization of at least one olefin of formula R a-CH=CH-R bat -60 - 200[deg]C and a pressure of 0.5 - 100 bar, in solution, in suspension or in the gas phase in the presence of the catalyst system; (2) preparation of the catalyst system involving: contacting the catalyst constituents with one another; (3) new transition metal coordination compound (where the transition metal is selected from Sc (scandium), Yb (ytterbium), La (lanthanum), Ti (titanium), Zr (zirconium), Hf (hafnium), Cr (chromium), V (vanadium), Nb (niobium), Ta (tantalum), Mo (molybdenum), W (tungsten), Fe (iron), Co (cobalt), Ni (nickel), Pd (palladium) and the lanthanides) and comprises at least one ligand comprising at least one photochromic group and selected from component A. The component A is selected from cyclopentadienyl derivative, phenoxyimine derivative and uncharged or singly or multiply negatively charged monodentate, bidentate or tridentate nitrogen ligand having 1, 2 or 3 coordinating nitrogen atoms which is bound to the transition metal center and is substituted by or fused with at least one photochromic group; (4) new metallocene compound of the formula (I), (II) and/or (III) or their double bond isomer or a photoisomer; (5) use of a transition metal coordination compound comprising at least one ligand, which comprises at least one photochromic group for preparing a catalyst system for the polymerization of olefins; and (6) use of compound (I) for preparing transition metal coordination compounds.
