<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chirp-switching circuit and an optical transmission system, with which the variation in the light output due to transmission chirp switching is prevented and occurrence of errors due to light surge is prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The chirp switching circuit has a Mach-Zehnder type modulator 30, with which respective two chains of optical signals branched at Y branching are phase-modulated with modulation waves and are multiplexed at X branching, and a directional coupler type optical switch 38 with which two systems of optical signals output from the X branching of the Mach-Zehnder type modulator are multiplexed corresponding to a chirp switching signal and switched. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
