PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which shortens a time required for image inspection, because manufacturing costs are increased due to a long time required for an inspection process, when information is exchanged between an ink cartridge and an apparatus body even in the inspection process, in the case that the image forming apparatus is equipped with a recording liquid cartridge with a storage cell. SOLUTION: A normal mode of performing processing, for example, for acquiring the information stored in an EEPROM 115 by getting access to the EEPROM 115 of the ink cartridge 38, and a special mode of unperforming the processing, for example, for acquiring the information by getting access to the EEPROM 115 of the ink cartridge 38 can be set by a manufacturing machine number, a specific key operation, the connection of a connecting means to a connector or the like.
