PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture-absorbing/releasing polyester fiber having excellent moisture absorbing and releasing property, and excellent color and producible in high operability. SOLUTION: The polyester fiber is composed exclusively of a polyalkylene terephthalate as a main component and a second component comprising a polymer (polymer (M)) containing the following compounds (A) and (B) provided that the sum of (A) and (B) in the fiber is 1-20 mass%. (A) An esterification reaction product composed of an aromatic carboxylic acid containing sulfonic acid group and/or its ester-forming derivative, a polycarboxylic acid free from sulfonic acid group and/or its ester-forming derivative and a polyalkylene glycol and (B) a polyalkylene glycol.
