<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication adapter which can be easily operated by a user for data transmission between a medical or therapeutic device and a computer. <P>SOLUTION: A portable medical device 1 carries out data connection, preferably data transmission to the communication adapter 6 to carry out data transmission 8 to a computer 12 via a connection 10 by a cable, preferably infrared data transmission 5.
