PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an operator from mistakenly pressing the crossbar of an electromagnetic switch. SOLUTION: Of the electromagnetic switch E, consisting of an electromagnetic contact device 1 switching an electric circuit and a thermal relay 10 switching the electric circuit, by putting on and off electric conduction to the relay circuit by heat generation due to overload current, the electromagnetic contact device 1 is equipped with a crossbar 7 with its tip protruded outside with its protrusion amount changing, accompanying the switching of the electric circuit. The thermal relay 10 is equipped with a reset bar 11, with its tip protruded outside returning the thermal relay moved by the overload current back to a state, before the movement with the protruded end being pressed, and a self-retention function. Since a detachable cover 20 for covering the tip of the crossbar 7 is provided at the electromagnetic contact device 1, the crossbar 7 is in a state, in which an operator can hardly touch it unless the cover 20 is removed.
