PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information distribution system capable of updating map information at the timing effective for a user by updating first map information on the basis of difference information between information of facilities in the first map information stored in a navigation device and information of facilities in second map information stored in a map information distribution center. SOLUTION: The map information distribution system is constituted so that navigation map information 37 currently stored in the navigation device 2 is compared with map information of the latest version among map information 16 for updating stored in the map information distribution center 3 so that the difference information is detected (S103), the detected difference information is displayed (S5) on a liquid crystal display 25, and the navigation map information 37 stored in the navigation device 2 is updated (S9) when the user chooses to carry out updating (S6:YES).
