PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge-pressing method capable of correctly detecting completion of the width reduction pressing on a slab when the slab is subjected to the width reduction pressing by using an edge-pressing equipment. SOLUTION: In this method, it is determined that the width reduction pressing on a slab 1 is completed when the height of an upper hold roll 3 is lowered below a predetermined position.
