PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air purifier providing environment which is always sterilized and deodorized, while it is safe to a person and a small animal. SOLUTION: The air purifier is provided with: a person sensing sensor (20) for detecting presence of the person or the animal; a microcomputer (30) which controls the operation of a UV source (12) and a fan motor (24); and a UV source switch (14). When the presence of the person or the animal is not detected at a set time, the microcomputer (30) starts to operate the UV source and the fan motor. When the presence of the person or the animal is detected at the set time, the microcomputer starts to operate the UV source and the fan motor after the presence of the person or animal is not detected, and stops the operation of the UV source and the fan motor after the lapse of a set operation duration time.
