Use of alkyl- and/or alkenyl-oligoglycosides (I), or carboxylates, sulfates, phosphates and/or isethionates derived from them, for (a) activation of hydrogen peroxide and (b) improving the lightening effect of H 2O 2on keratin fibers. Use of alkyl- and/or alkenyl-oligoglycosides of formula (I), or carboxylates, sulfates, phosphates and/or isethionates derived from them, for (a) activation of hydrogen peroxide and (b) improving the lightening effect of H 2O 2on keratin fibers. R-O-(G) p(I) R : 6-22C alkyl or alkenyl; G : glycoside unit derived from a sugar of 5 or 6 C; p : 1-10. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) composition for lightening keratinic fibers that contains 0.1-20, best 2.5-12.5, wt.% (I) or its derivatives and 1-20wt.% at least one imidazole derivative (II) and/or its physiologically tolerable salts; (2) composition similar to (1) but containing, in place of (II), 0.1-25, especially 1.5-10, wt.% at least one of carbonate, monoalkylcarbonate, carbonic acid amide, silylcarbonate and/or silylcarbamate; (3) composition similar to (1) but containing, in place of (II), 0.05-5wt.% M[OCN] and/or NH 2CO-L; and (4) composition similar to (1) but containing, in place of (II), 0.1-20, especially 2.5-10, wt.% 2-, 3- or 4-piperidone or their derivatives, especially piperidinium salts.
