<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect breaks of paper sheet of different sizes and even of fragile or the like and to further detect only a break of desired length. <P>SOLUTION: This break detecting device for paper sheet is provided with conveying belts 14a to 14d for conveying a ticket K or the like along a conveying surface, a lower projection roller 16 for pressing one side of the ticket K or the like to be conveyed by the conveying belts 14a to 14d in a first direction perpendicular to the conveying surface, an upper projection roller 15 for pressing the other side of the ticket or the like to be conveyed by the conveying belts 14a to 14d in a direction opposite from the first direction, a light source 18 for irradiating the ticket or the like deformed by the pressure of the upper and lower projection rollers 15 and 16 with light, a light receiving sensor 19 for receiving the light irradiated with the light source 18, a detecting means 2 for detecting that the ticket K or the like has a break (a) on the basis of the fact that the light receiving sensor 19 receives the light, and a moving means 26 for moving the upper and lower projection rollers 15 and 16 along the conveying surface and in a direction perpendicular to a direction of conveying the ticket or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
