PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a multifiber/single-fiber conversion optical component, in which no bending stress is imparted to fibers even if the fiber length is short, single fiber connectors equivalent to the multifiber can be ground all at once, the housing parts of the single fiber connector can be stored in the optical fiber section, and no variance of fiber lengths is caused in the machining of the optical fibers, and also to provide such multifiber/single-fiber conversion optical component having superior characteristics. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the multifiber/single-fiber conversion optical component, one end of which is a multifiber connector and the other end of which is a single fiber connector through a plurality of single optical fibers, includes a step f1 for processing an optical fiber with a connector at both end; a step f2 for processing an optical fiber with a connector at one end; and, a step f3 for assembling a multifiber/single-fiber conversion optical component.
