PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a apparatus for measuring droplet diameter which can measure droplet diameters with high accuracy, even for droplets of high flying velocity, such as those immediately after discharge. SOLUTION: The droplet diameter measuring apparatus comprises an illumination means for illuminating droplets flying in a predetermined flying direction, a photographic means which has a plurality of photographic elements, arranged adjacent to each other to photograph an enlarged image of the droplet, and a droplet diameter calculation means for calculating the diameter of the droplet, on the basis of the image thereof. The photographic means photographs the droplet with exposure time for allowing the after image of the droplet to remain on the photographed image. The photographic elements output, electrical output that corresponds to the image of the droplet to the droplet diameter calculation means. The droplet diameter calculation means calculates the diameter of the droplet, on the basis of the output of the photographic element which has captured the afterimage of the droplet out of the photographic elements, that are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the flying direction of the droplet.
