PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor capable of stopping the passenger conveyor in an emergency by detecting abnormality even when a fine string-like object causing no damage, deformation and floating of comb-teeth is caught. SOLUTION: This safety device has a moving step 2 of the passenger conveyor, a comb-teeth base part 4 arranged on a manhole floor of a boarding-alighting port of the passenger conveyor and opposing an upper surface of the moving step 2 to a tip side under surface, the comb-teeth 4a arranged on the tip side under surface of the comb-teeth base part 4, and a pressure sensitive element 5a arranged on the tip side under surface of the the comb-teeth base part 4 and the ceiling of mutual troughs of the comb-teeth and stopping the passenger conveyor by reacting to the fact of being pressed.
