PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of causing dislocation of a printing position when a torsional quantity of a driving roller shaft changes due to a load variation applied to a driving roller, though various techniques are proposed for controlling a paper carrying quantity by detecting its turning angle, by arranging a rotary encoder on the driving roller shaft for carrying paper due to requiring high seed and highly accurate positioning control since positional dislocation in carrying the paper has large influence on an image quality in an image forming device for moving the paper to a printing position by rotatingly driving the driving roller. SOLUTION: Cord wheels 20 and 33 for the first and second rotary encoders are respectively arranged on both ends 9a and 9b of the shaft of the driving roller 9, and simultaneously perform detection by respectively corresponding detecting devices 21 and 34. A turning angle of the shaft and a torsional quantity of the shaft can be calculated by detecting both output pulses and mutual dislocation.
