PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device for a vehicle braking force, and a method therefore which prevent an operation error of hill-hold control and can prevent the hill-hold control from operating when a brake pedal is operated for executing the hill-hold control. SOLUTION: When an elapsed time ST from the stopping of the vehicle becomes not less than a reference time BT, a CPU sets a brake liquid pressure in each wheel cylinder immediately after the time to be a reference brake liquid pressure BBP, and determines whether the reference brake liquid pressure BBP is less than the minimum brake liquid pressure BPmin or not. When the determination result is an affirmative determination, the CPU changes to set the reference brake liquid pressure BBP (=BPmin). Afterward, the CPU sets a threshold value KBP by adding a reference value BV to the reference brake liquid pressure BBP. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
