The mattress has a rectangular outer frame (13) accommodating two layers (11,12) of helical springs made of a suitable material. The upper layer (11) is assembled of several rows of parallel positioned springs (111) with a comparatively small diameter while the lower layer (12) comprises springs (121) with a wider diameter arranged in the same pattern. In a second version a basic layer assembled of springs with a smaller diameter is positioned underneath the wider springs (121).
