<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road lane detection device for accurately detecting a road lane without emphasizing any noise. <P>SOLUTION: A detection line for detecting the luminance of pixels configuring an image is set (S210), and the luminance of pixels on the detection line is leveled so that image elements are obtained (S220), and contraction processing in a morphology arithmetic operation is performed to the shape of leveled image elements (S230).
