<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a vehicle that enables easily visual recognition from the rear that a door of the vehicle during a stop is in an open state. <P>SOLUTION: A courtesy lamp 3 is mounted on the vehicle door 1, and a controller 6 of the lighting device 3 for the vehicle turns off a room lamp 4 mounted on the upper part of the cabin, when the vehicle door 1 is in closed state, reduces the luminance of the courtesy lamp 3 to the minimum, and directs the courtesy lamp 3 to the foot of a seated person. When the vehicle door 1 is opened, the controller 6 gradually increases the luminance of the courtesy lamp 3 and the room lamp 4, and changes the direction of the courtesy lamp 3 to the rear side of the vehicle as the opening of the door becomes large. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
