PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in conventional scene skip technology that a scene attracting user's interest may be really included in scenes judged as scenes to be skipped by the user, but the user can not check the scene because of skip. SOLUTION: In order to solve the problem, a moving picture reproducing apparatus provided with a function for displaying frames in scenes to be skipped as the prescribed number of thumbnails before skip reproduction based on a moving picture reproduction skip instruction is provided. Concretely, the moving picture reproducing apparatus comprises: a moving picture information storing part; a moving picture reproducing part; a moving picture reproduction skip instruction acquisition part; a thumbnail information acquisition part for extracting prescribed moving picture information on the basis of a skip start point and a skip end point which are specified by the moving picture reproduction skip instruction and acquiring thumbnail information; and a thumbnail display part.
