摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display images with high definition and high image quality, enabling stable address operation even when driven at a high speed, in a plasma display device, and to provide a method of driving the same. SOLUTION: In a discharge stop period, the voltage of a ramp waveform, with a slope at a rising portion and the wave height of which exceeds a breakdown voltage Vs, is applied as an erase pulse between a scanning electrode 19a and a sustaining electrode 19b, thereby a feeble discharge is sustained, when the voltage rises and a wall voltage with a negative polarity at a scanning electrode side, which is slightly lower than the breakdown voltage Vs, is formed in a discharge cell. The wall voltage of the scanning electrode 19a side has a negative polarity at the completion of the sustaining period. When the erase pulse falls down, a wall charge whose scanning electrode 19a side has a positive polarity is accumulated, and the wall voltage of the scanning electrode 19a side has a positive polarity at the completion of the discharge stop period. Consequently, an initialization discharge time S becomes longer, in comparison with the case where the wall voltage is completely eliminated during the erasure period, as before.
