PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable that is superior in wiring workability with no directionality in the bending direction of the cable or a cable part and that is free from increase in transmission loss or disconnection of an optical fiber due to the entry of the ovipositor of cicadas or by handling in wiring. SOLUTION: The optical cable is provided with a cable part 10 and a support line part 20 for supporting this cable part 10. The cable part 10 is composed of: a tension member 14 provided with a groove 12 with a U or V shaped cross section extending longitudinally in a tension line having a circular cross section; a coated optical fiber 16 stored in the groove 12; and a jacket 18 with a circular cross section on the outer periphery thereof.
