The protective clothing (1), e.g. for protection against atomic and biological and chemical (ABC) attack, has a connection (6) between the jacket (2) and the trousers (3) along the lower edge of the connection section (5) and/or the upper edge of the trousers. The outer side of the connecting section is at least of air impermeable material and has adsorbent active carbon on the inner side. The connecting section can be opened independently of the trousers, with a closure to open and close it outwards using a sliding clasp fastener, a contact burr fastener or buttons.
