<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration in image quality such as uneven density and color misalignment by suppressing the load fluctuation and vibration of an intermediate transfer belt arising in the midst of an image forming operation or an image transfer operation while maintaining a cleaning performance and a transfer performance. <P>SOLUTION: In the printer 10, a secondary transfer roll 80 and a cleaning roll 86 are provided in a fixed position so as to always come in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 64, and in the case the toner image in the process of image formation passes through a secondary transfer position and a cleaning position of a cleaning roll 86, a bias whose polarity is opposite to that of the toner lying on the intermediate transfer belt 64 is applied on the secondary transfer roll 80 and the cleaning roll 86, on the other hand, in the case the formed toner image passes through the secondary transfer position, a bias whose polarity is opposite to that of the toner lying on the intermediate transfer belt 64 is applied on the secondary transfer roll 80, and also, in the case the residual toner passes through the cleaning position, the residual toner is electrified with negative polarity by a conductive sheet 122, and a bias of positive polarity is applied on the cleaning roll 86. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
