摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar cell using a carbon nanotube capable of utilizing the light of broad visible region in the sunlight radiation and acquiring high conversion efficiency, by arranging perpendicularly the carbon nanotube of a specific shape and configuration on a specific substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The solar cell comprises: a substrate (A) consisting of silicon carbide substantially; a carbon nanotube layer (B) fixed firmly on the substrate (A), an insulating layer (C) joined to the respective carbon nanotubes only in their tip parts while covering wholly the carbon nanotube layer (B), and a transparent electrode (D) formed as an opposite electrode on the insulating layer (C). The carbon nanotube layer (B) is grown up perpendicularly on the substrate (A) by thermal decomposition of silicon carbide existing in the surface layer of the substrate, and also the respective carbon nanotubes have almost uniform lengths and tip parts of a closed shape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
