PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for obtaining arbitrary beam width of a radiation pattern having a circular directivity by using a broadband Fermi antenna. SOLUTION: The method is used for designing a corrugated Fermi antenna that is required for receiving and imaging millimeter waves and has a broadband and circular directivity. As a first step, an inflection point in a Fermi-Dirac function as a taper function of the Fermi antenna is changed for setting the beam width of a plane H to beam width having the target directivity. When the beam width of the plane H is set to be the target value, the aperture width of the Fermi antenna is changed for setting the beam width of a plane E to be beam width having the target directivity. In this manner, the beam width of the planes H and E is adjusted independently for coinciding with the target value, thus designing the Fermi antenna having the broadband and the circular directivity quickly.
