PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate device capable of improving productivity and display characteristics. SOLUTION: On a top surface of a spacer height adjusting layer 41 provided in a margin area 31 of a large-sized glass substrate 26, a main body groove part 42 is formed along the length direction. Cross sections between seal materials 22 between image display areas 4 become larger. Efficiency of exhaustion from in the image display areas 4 between large-sized glass substrates 26 and 57 can be improved. The exhaustion from in the image display areas 4 can be made surer and easier. A liquid crystal composition L can easily be injected into the image display areas 4 through liquid crystal injection holes 36.
