PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an overvoltage protective function for preventing a part from being broken by overvoltage, without a dedicated additional circuit. SOLUTION: When overvoltage is applied between the output terminal +Vo and -Vo, current flowing through a surge absorber 24 increases, and the output voltage Vout supply is cut off by an overcurrent protection circuit 8, when the current reaches a predetermined level; however, the withstand pressure of the surge absorber 24 is higher than that of a Zener diode, so it causes no break, even if the voltage between the output terminal +Vo and -Vo becomes high. With the surge absorber 24, overvoltage protection can be performed by preventing the surge absorber 24 from breaking down due to overvoltage, using the current detection function of the overcurrent protection circuit 8, without for a dedicated additional circuits. |
