COLORED POLYMER COMPOSITION

A carbon fiber structure of three-dimensional network configuration comprising a polymer matrix and, contained therein, carbon fibers of 15 to 100 nm outer diameter, which carbon fiber structure in a form having multiple carbon fibers extending out has granular portions realizing mutual bonding of carbon fibers, the granular portions formed in the stage of growing of the carbon fibers. Further, there is provided a colored polymer composition obtained by loading the same with a colorant. There is involved a carbon fiber structure of novel construction having properties preferred for a filler for composite material and, through addition of a small amount thereof, capable of improving electrical properties, mechanical properties, thermal properties and other physical properties without detriment to the properties of the matrix, which carbon fiber structure provides a colored polymer composition capable of exhibiting any arbitrary color tone. When a white colorant is employed as the colorant, even through addition of a relatively small amount thereof, there can be corrected darkening of the resin color tone attributed to addition of carbon fiber structure.
