The invention relates to field of cartography and is intended for representation of relief at development of digital maps of locality. Method for automated treatment and representation of cartographic material includes obtaining metrical information on objects being represented, and identification of objects. At taking metric information on objects being represented one performs study of those objects and environment through circular scanning by means of sensors, one obtains acoustic, micro-wave, thermo-physical parameters of objects and environment, forms aggregative vector-parameter of each object. For identification of objects by value of aggregative vector-parameter one determines object classification to one of classification groups, within each classification group one compares aggregative vector-parameter of each object to standard vector-parameters of models, with formation of mark of object corresponding to aggregative vector-parameter, with connection to trajectory of motion of robot-technical means, one obtains three-dimensional pattern of space being studied and path of robot-technical means. The invention provides high level of identification of objects of locality being represented.
