The vent has an air duct (1), and a device for influencing air flow. The device is formed in such a manner that a directed, steam-shaped air outlet and a diffuse air outlet are enabled in two operation cases, and constantly adjustable operation cases lying between the operation cases are enabled. A common maximum cross section of the air duct flows in all operation cases and has a spherical shape or rectangular shape. The device has air directing units (3) that are swivelably supported around an associated axis. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling air discharge of an air vent.
