PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of manufacturing a lens array having desirable shape as a second lens array. SOLUTION: The projector 100 is equipped with: an illuminating device having a light source device, a first lens array 120A obtained by arraying a plurality of first small lenses 122A in matrix shape, a second lens array 130A obtained by arraying a plurality of second small lenses 132A corresponding to the plurality of first small lenses 122A in matrix shape, and a superposing lens 150; liquid crystal devices 400R, 400G and 400B; and a projection optical system. The plurality of second small lenses 132A are made eccentric in every line and the thickness of each of the second small lenses 132A is adjusted so that a level difference at a boundary part between the second small lenses 132A may be reduced. The curvature of each of the second small lenses 132A is set so that the image of the corresponding first small lens 122A may be formed at the same position near the image forming area S of the liquid crystal devices 400R, 400G and 400B.
