PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery driven electronic device which sufficiently secures usable time by preventing as much as possible the terminal voltage of its battery from temporarily falling below the lower limit value. SOLUTION: Terminal voltage VB of the battery is detected by a CPU of a bar-code handy terminal when a key for reading the bar code is operated on (Step B1), and concentration of rush currents is surely avoided by changing a standby time Wait for switching on power supply to scanning/photo-sensing/ binary-coding circuits which are the functional parts for executing the functions and the lighting according to the terminal voltage VB. Specifically, the standby time Wait is changed gradually longer as the terminal voltage VB is lowered (Steps B2-B4, B5-B8). |
