<p>A stepping motor having a rotor, a stator, and a mold case including a flange and a case body. The outer surface of pole teeth of a stator yoke is exposed at the outer surface of the mold case. The pole teeth to be exposed and their arrangement are determined considering heat radiation efficiency. When a base section of the flange corresponds to the outer surface of the pole teeth, installation strength of the base section is set accordingly. Preferably, the base section of the flange is provided on the mold case so as to straddle the pole teeth. The shape and thickness of the flange and the shape of an opening formed in the flange are set as desired. Further, if the that portion of the flange which is attached to the case can be formed by resin, the portion can be set to a desired position. If one of a pair of bearings for supporting a rotating shaft of a rotor is provided on a mating device on which a motor is mounted, the one of the bearings is eliminated. Also, heat produced is released through the bearing from a bearing end surface exposed to the outer surface of the mold case.</p> |
