<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali-manganese oxide which contains, as a main component, inexpensive manganese oxide and allows the realization of an electrode material having a calcium ferrite-type structure and high safety, and excellent in battery characteristics; and a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is expressed by general formula: AMn<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>(wherein, A represents either one or both of sodium and lithium) and has an orthorhombic calcium ferrite-type structure as crystal structure. The method for producing the compound, expressed by general formula: AMn<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>(wherein, A represents either one or both of sodium and lithium) and having an orthorhombic calcium ferrite-type structure as crystal structure, comprises heating a mixture containing a sodium compound and a manganese compound under high temperature and high pressure conditions of not lower than 800°C and not lower than 1 GPa (1×10<SP>4</SP>atm). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
