<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately perform image recognition of a recognition part on each substrate surface even when the heights of the substrate surfaces are different on which components are mounted. <P>SOLUTION: A component mounting apparatus is configured in such a way that a substrate recognition means equipped with a recognition camera 8 provided on a mounted head performs the image recognition of the recognition part on the substrate positioned at a predetermined position, and on the basis of a recognition result a mounting position is corrected on the substrate at which a component is mounted and then the component attracted and held by a nozzle possessed by the mounting head is mounted at the mounting position after being corrected.
