PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire tread in which abrasion resistance, grip performance, disturbance absorbing property and driving stability are improved until a high level. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire tread is composed of a rubber component containing 20-50% styrene content and carbon black. The carbon black has≥180 m<SP>2</SP>/g N<SB>2</SB>SA (nitrogen absorption specific surface area),≥150 mg/g IA (iodine absorption amount), 120-250 m<SP>2</SP>/g CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) absorption specific surface area,≥120 ml/100g DBP (dibutylphthalate) oil absorption,≥108 ml/100g 24M4DBP absorption, 0.4-0.8 CTAB/IA and 0.85-1.5ΔDst/Dst [ratio of a half value width (ΔDst) of the distribution of stokes nominal diameters of aggregates to an aggregate stokes-corresponding diameter (Dst) by a centrifugal precipitation method].
