PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wrench which does not damage a threaded groove or a screwdriver bit. SOLUTION: The wrench 50 is equipped, between a rotary cylinder 62 and a rotary shaft 64, with a rotary shaft turning mechanism 80 for rotating the rotary shaft 64 with respect to the rotary cylinder 62 by an action that the rotary shaft 64 relatively retreats from the rotary cylinder 62. The mechanism 80 consists of a spiral groove 81 provided on the rotary cylinder 62 and a pin 82 provided on the shaft 64 to fit into the spiral groove 81, and rotates the rotary shaft 64 with respect to the rotary cylinder 62 by the action that the shaft 64 relatively retreats from the cylinder 62.
