The engine has an oscillating steam cylinder (1) that is pivotably supported around a pin (2) and that lies in a reflector plate (3). The cylinder is pressed by a single-piece spring (4) that is curved at ends against the reflector plate. The cylinder and the plate have a counter bore (8) at its outer side, where the bore is aligned with the pin. The spring has a bore (6) in its curved ends, where balls are interiorly inserted in the bore (6). The length of the curved ends of the spring is selected such that a longitudinal side of the spring is reinforced at its opposite side of the plate.
