PURPOSE: A method for dividing resolution for multi-axis encoder is provided to achieve improved resolution of encoder by using an electrical signal generated during contact. CONSTITUTION: A multi-dimensional measurement device, comprises a contact sensor; a small computer for controlling the contact sensor; a plurality of encoders; a plurality of counters for storing pulses of the encoder; a plurality of timers for measuring intervals of pulses of the encoder; a plurality of small computers for processing relation between counters and timers; and a computer for collecting information from smaller computers and processing the collected information. Each of timers performs operation of measuring the time elapsed from the point of encode signal generation, measuring time between signals before the point of encoder signal generation, and measuring time for a plurality of previous signals.
