<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image with a satisfactory image quality and precisely calculating the amount of toner consumed for image formation. <P>SOLUTION: Output image data is scaled by data processing so that an output maximum gradation value is equal to or lower than a saturation start gradation value Lmax, at which an increase in image density relative to an increase in gradation value starts to saturate, in relation between the gradation value and image density. By processing data so that output image data with 0 to Lmax gradation is obtained from an input image data with 0 to 255 gradation, the ratio of the gradation value, expressed by the input image data to the image density becomes 1:1; and since the ratio of the gradation value to the amount of toner consumption becomes 1:1, image quality and accuracy in the calculation of an amount of toner consumption can be made compatible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
