PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processing apparatus and control method thereof in which manual setting of white balance can be intuitively and efficiently performed. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: an image photographing unit 10 including a photographing optical system 11 and a photo-electric converting element 17; a signal processing unit 20 for processing an image signal converted into an electric signal; an operating means 38 for performing manual setting of white balance; and an image signal processing means for processing an image signal using a value of a white balance gain calculated based on a white balance setting value set by the operating means. The image processing apparatus further includes a display means 42 for displaying a setting range of white balance as a one-dimensional level gauge 40 and displaying a current setting value of white balance as a mark 41, and a mark moving means which is capable of moving the current setting value mark 41 displayed on the display means.
