PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tungsten electrode material whose discharge consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: The tungsten electrode material comprises, by mass, >0.01 to 30% tantalum, and the balance tungsten. Further, the tantalum content is preferably controlled to 0.03 to 5%. Further, the tantalum preferably forms a solid solution with the tungsten.
