[PROBLEMS] To provide a small-size light source device having an increased service life by using a microwave and a projector using the light source device. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A light source device includes: a solid state high-frequency oscillation unit for outputting a high-frequency signal; a waveguide unit for emitting the high-frequency signal inputted from the solid state high-frequency oscillation unit as a microwave; and a light emitting unit for emitting light by the microwave emitted from the waveguide. Moreover, a container of the waveguide unit internally has a space surrounded by a microwave reflection surface containing an antenna and serving as a reflection surface for converging the microwave emitted from the antenna. The projector includes the light source device, a light modulation unit for forming an optical image by modulating the light flux emitted by the light emission unit of the light source device according to the image information, and a projection unit for projecting the optical image formed by the light modulation unit.
