<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device having improved assembling properties and the improved utilization efficiency of light, and to provide a liquid crystal display having the surface light source device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device comprises a light guide body 22, and a light source unit 25 provided opposite to the incident surface 22b of the light guide body.
